Where the Redwoods meet the Pacific Fort Bragg is the undiscoverd gem on the North Coast of Mendocino County.
From wine tasting, crab eating, salmon fishing, ocean kyaking and surfing to walking along a lonely beach... there is something for everyone. Fort Bragg was established 100 years ago as an indian fort. Named after General Braxton Bragg, the fort only lasted a few years before the predecesor to the Union Lumber Company bought most of the land. Although there is some controversy over how the local pomo indian population was treated, today the coastal community enjoys postive relations between all those who share this beautiful land.
Fort Bragg offers a full range of hospitality, ranging from affordable motels on the ocean to beautiful Bed & Breakfast establishments for that romantic get-away. Whether you're looking for hotels with views and white linen dining rooms, or a place to camp while you go diving for abalone, Fort Bragg and Mendocino have what you're looking for.
